About the event

As part of Mná Fest, celebrating female creativity during St Brigid’s Weekend, this hands-on workshop invites participants to create a modular laser-cut jewellery piece inspired by the birdsong of Ardgillan Demesne.

Participants will assemble and personalise a wearable artwork using pre-cut wooden components, exploring how listening to sound and place can inform visual form. The process encourages intuitive making, experimentation, and playful composition. No prior experience is required.

The workshop is facilitated by Genevieve Howard, a Dublin-based Irish artist and resident artist at Ardgillan Castle, whose multidisciplinary practice spans contemporary jewellery, visual art, and music. Her work explores the relationship between sound and form, transforming sonic vibrations into tangible, wearable sculptures through a combination of handcraft and digital techniques.

All materials are provided, and participants will leave with a completed modular jewellery piece.

  • Date: Sunday 2nd February

  • Time: 1–3pm

  • Location: Drawing Room, Ardgillan Castle K34 C984

  • Cost: €50 (all materials included)
